Company History

Jali was established in 1990 to design, manufacture and market decorative wood products for the home and for the DIY, architectural and display industries. The following pages give a synopsis of how the company has developed in that time and also gives an insight into the hard work and determination that has built Jali so far.

1996

• First major Christmas display project for John Lewis Partnership
• New cutting machines installed on site to cope with increased demand
• Jali purchases the Albion Works site
• Employees: 20

1997

• Jali starts working for Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen for TV and magazines
• Jali featured on Changing Rooms, Homefront, DIY SOS
• Jali wins Kent Small Business of the Year award
• Planning permission sought for new workshop at Albion Works site
• Employees: 21

1998

• Film work increases, including Shakespeare In Love, Elizabeth and The Mummy
• More machinery installed in factory
• MD wins Kent Businessman of the Year award
• Employees: 28
