How we manufacture

How are Jali products made?

Our award-winning factory based in Kent enables us to manufacture bespoke furniture components quickly and economically. We've combined the efficiency of production line techniques with the flexibility of a traditional joinery to develop our own state-of-the-art computer controlled cutting machines which will cut out many different parts as if they were on a production line.

We use CNC ('computer numerical control') routers and laser cutters to cut components from MDF as well as other materials such as steel, brass, wood and acrylic. Because it's the computer that drives the cutting machinery we can produce these components accurately, quickly and safely.

What happens when I place a made-to-measure order?

We take your order and send you a drawing of what you've ordered so you can check the details and sizes. Once you've done so, our computer system instructs the machines to begin manufacture via our own computer language which we designed just for this purpose. The cutting machines know the exact size of the units you've ordered so and will adapt the design to suit (so a very wide radiator cover would have more fixings than a narrower one to improve the strength).

As the separate parts are made they are numbered and are then collected together to make up your order. At each stage of production the computer system shows a picture of the exact design of your order together with all relevant sizes. This means that we can check that everything is OK as we go along.

Because the computer system knows the exact location of every component that makes up your order, we can really speed things up by only showing the relevant information at each stage of production. This means that our staff can concentrate on the job at hand, and your order gets despatched more quickly. It keeps our staff happy too as it doesn't waste their time!
