How to download and install
|
Follow the instructions below to get up and running with the Jali Designer!
You'll need an IBM-compatible PC to run it (no Mac version yet - sorry!)
Please note: While the program is being installed, you may
see the following message: "Unable to register the DLL/OCX:dllRegister
server failed;Code 0x8002801C". If you see this, just press the 'Ignore'
button underneath the message; the installation should then finish you'll
be able to use the program. This appears to be an issue with the Macromedia
Flash Player, which the Jali Designer uses. You might see this message from
October 2006 onwards.
If you've downloaded and installed things before
- Click here to begin the download
- Save the program on your computer
- Find the saved file and double-click it to begin installation
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install it.
If you've never done this before
N.B. Due to the wide variety of internet browsers, computers
and their configurations, the details may vary from the description below.
However, most of the time this should be enough to get you going!
- Click here. You should see a box asking whether
you want to open or save the program. Click the button marked
'Save' or 'Save as'.
- Shortly afterwards, you'll see another box asking you where (within your
computer) you want to save the file. If you're not sure where to save it,
it's best to save it on your desktop (which is the screen that's hiding
behind our website and any other programs you may be running). To do so,
repeatedly press the button that looks like this:
(in the group of buttons towards the top-right hand side of the box) and,
when you see the word 'Desktop' in the box to its left, press the button marked
'Save'. If the button looks like this:
then it's already at the desktop, so press the 'Save' button anyway.
- After a few seconds you'll see a thermometer bar which should gradually
fill up to the right. Wait until it's full, which means that the program has
finished downloading from our website.
- Now, click on the Start button (usually in the extreme bottom-left
of your screen), click on the word 'Run...' which appears, then click
the button marked 'Browse'. In the box that appears, do the same thing
you did before to get to the desktop (by using the
button again) and, when it's there, find 'JDsetup' in the white box
underneath.
- Click the mouse once on JDSetup, and then press the button marked
'Open' (or occasionally 'Run').
- That's the difficult bit over! You'll now see a series of instructions on
how to install and run the program.
Once you've done that, you should be well on your way to designing your first
bit of furniture!
