Room sets at the BBC Good Homes show

We had three room sets at the BBC Good Homes Show, each one featuring one of the three Jali styles: Classic, Contemporary and Ethnic. The room sets were located on 'Inspiration Avenue' at the show, and it gave us a chance to show off our products with a number of different styles and paint finishes.

Here's a few pictures of the displays:

The Classic room set

This featured the following Jali products:

• Bookcase & cupboard set
  • Base: three section cupboard with plain doors
  • Centre bookcase with TV: single-section bookcase
  • Outer bookcases: two-section bookcases with stepped tops
• Bay window radiator cabinet, made specially
• Classic three leaf folding screen number 2363 (next to the window)
• Pelmet number 4532 (above the window)
• Two bookcases and a drawer unit (left-hand wall)

We used the Jali Designer to design the TV unit and matched the width of the three bookcases to the cupboard below them. We made the outer bookcases slightly shallower than the central one to break the line of the three units.

Additional items also made at Jali:

• Fake widescreen TV from stainless steel and acrylic, cut on our laser
• The skirting boards around the edge of the room
• The bay window itself, complete with glass and fake sunset outside!

The Contemporary room set

We made some new pieces for this room, but most of it was actually re-used from a previous exhibition we did two years ago.

Long wall:

• Long three-section cupboard
• Three-section bookcase in the middle of the wall
• Single-section bookshelf on the left
• Radiator cover with the square grille

Left-hand wall:

• Drawer unit
• Bookcase
• Radiator cover with vertical slots

Dado rail:

• Contemporary pelmet number 4562

Additional items also made at Jali:

• The pedestal near the right-hand wall
• Stainless steel 'building' light feature
• Skirting boards

The Ethnic room set

This time the big dresser unit was made from 8 different Jali made-to-measure units!

The bottom layer of the dresser was made fairly deep from the wall to give a table surface. The central radiator cabinet was set back to provide room for seating - you could use the same idea to make a working area in an office.

• Two single cupboards with double doors and 2082 grilles
• Two drawer units with 4 graduated drawers each
• Radiator cabinet, recessed from the other units to give space for a chair

The top layer was designed so it matched the overall width of the bottom.

• Central three-section bookcase with 'pediment' top. We modified this from the standard design to provide the recessed lighting for extra illumination.
• Two bookcases with optional Ethnic arches

Additional items also made at Jali:

• Bedhead, using Ethnic arches to match the bookcases
• Bed frame (not visible!)
• Skirting boards
