Jali's unique approach to DIY means that you can design your own bespoke made-to-measure furniture at a fraction of the cost of a carpenter or fitter.

We supply all the fixings and fitting parts. You choose the style of handles or door and drawer furniture and it all arrives delivered to your home. Follow the simple instructions to construct and painting your cabinet or shelving.

We have developed a series of practical videos to demonstrate useful tips in the assembly of DIY products. There's lots more helpful information in the
How To section of our website as well.

There are tips for the best ways to design and fit the perfect piece of furniture for your room - including pointers on measuring, actual assembly, gluing and scribing.

We pride ourselves on the high quality of the precision-engineered product and know that, as leaders in the manufacture of MDF furniture, our products are superior to others. Our furniture is made to last and our customers come back again and again.

Pictured left (inset) is a detailed example of how to glue a radiator plinth  and how to glue in a fretwork grille into a radiator panel.

Radiator cabinets have been designed as practical furniture solutions. Neatly fitted magnetic tabs fit behind the decorative front grille panel so that valves and thermostats can be easily accessed whilst remaining beautifully hidden by the radiator cabinet itself.

A new introduction to our service last year was the option to choose your product pre-primed in either white or biscuit undercoat.  This has been a huge success as it really helps get a professional finish to your furniture whilst saving loads of time and effort.  (You can still choose to receive your product in natural MDF if you want.)

Cam Bolt Fixings

At Jali we are always looking at ways of improving our products and their construction. This may be by using new cam bolt fixings where the technology and systems are continuously improving: see opposite for how the cam and bolt fixings are used to join two pieces of wood at right-angles.  All you need is a screwdriver!

1. Insert the circular cam into the pre-drilled hole, using a few taps with a small hammer or mallet if required.

2. Screw the bolt into the adjoining component.

3. Push the two together so the bolt engages in the cam.

4. Using a screwdriver, turn the cam clockwise to lock onto the bolt.

For best results gluing is recommended. Remember to test-build before gluing.

Building the finished product

Demand for bespoke furniture has continued to grow as many choose to improve their homes rather than to move. The MDF DIY furniture market remains popular due to the quality of the product. By selecting a material like MDF for your furniture you will have the security of knowing that the product will last and is a reliable investment.

Jali Home Design manufactures a broad selection of styles of furniture. As featured in the picture (left), the decorative arch at the top of the bookcase is optional, and there are three styles of plinth to choose from.  In addition the number and depth of the shelves are entirely your choice - and most importantly, you choose the exact height and width of the bookcase and we'll make it just for you!

Simply measure the space that you want your furniture to fit and enter the dimensions into the Jali Designer, height, width and depth. It does not matter whether you're more comfortable with inches or centimetres; the Jali Designer will use either.

Remember with the unique Jali Designer it is possible to select the style of skirting to match your furniture.

The same applies to all our furniture; with the drawer unit (featured left) you choose the number of drawers, the depth and the style of handles to apply.  Find out more about drawer units here.

Jali on-line videos will also assist in measuring and designing your own furniture.
