If you live in an older house or prefer a more refined feel, traditional designs are hard to beat. Don't be put off by a bit of gentle formality - elegance doesn’t need to be stuffy! If your house has original features, make the most of them: sand and varnish wooden floors, choose furniture to sit comfortably in sunny bay windows and use fireplace alcoves for tailor-made storage.

What's in this room?

Both the cupboard and bookcase on the right-hand side were made with the alcove fitting option, whereby the side skirtings are omitted from the design and both ends of the units are extended flush with the top and skirting boards so that the unit can be more easily scribed on site to fit the walls perfectly.

Bay window radiator cabinets, like the one shown here, are supplied in three sections (one for each wall in the bay). They can also provide extra seating for guests!
